Confusionaires have built a sound that’s synonymous with the best country and rockabilly acts around, with a strong penchant for original songwriting. Featuring Buddy Holly songs and stories, and a second set of covers from other 1950's artists mixed in with their own original songs - makes for a full night of 50's style rock & roll!

Confusionaires are a world-class traditional rock & roll band that are steeped in both big-city rock & roll and small-town country music. Hailing from Edmonton, Canada, the trio of musicians has built a sound that’s synonymous with the best country and rockabilly acts around, with a strong penchant for original songwriting.
Since they began to record their third full-length album, a pandemic project “Westernization,” Confusionaires have broadened both their sound, and their reach beyond the barstool dwellers to include not only independent radio listeners, but also the festival and theatre-going audiences of Alberta and beyond. Their push to reach live music fans in these settings has proven fruitful, growing their fan base and their status beyond what seemed possible when they performing in the spring of 2016.
To date, Confusionaires have played over 100 shows in Western Canada, having played gritty punk rock shows and pristine theatre concerts alike, earning new fans in both settings. Now the trio is embarking on their first-ever international tour, which takes them to Nayarit, Mexico to play 8 shows between February 16th and 26th, 2024 before returning to Canada to start pre-production on what will be their fourth studio album.

Instructor Bio: 
Karen Scarlett – Western Landscape Artist
Karen grew up fifth generation on the family dairy farm west of Innisfail, Alberta. She has made art her entire life.
The “Queens of the dairy” held a royal spot on the farm and took up much of the energy of the Scarlett family existence. It was a great life.
Creating has been a lifelong adventure and an important part of life for Karen. Art was practiced with Grandma Scarlett where she learned and important lesson – try everything. A love of power tools and creative design were honed with her Dad while hand-craft, sewing and creating with a sense of perfection were inspired by her Mom.
Karen takes her biggest inspiration from her love, Doug. They live in Calgary, Alberta where Karen works from her home studio.
Recently, Karen obtained a commission for 150 pieces of art to be installed in the Royal Palm Hotel and Resort in Miami, Florida. It was thrilling to receive this international recognition.
You can find Karen’s work in private, corporate and commercial collections across North America and in various spots around the globe.

Both hail from the Prairies, began performing alongside other members of their families, and have been named to CBC’s list of Hot 30 Classical Musicians Under 30.

Hailing from Kelowna, Canada, Under the Rocks has emerged from a city with no other bluegrass acts to become one of Canada’s premier bluegrass bands. Featuring acoustic guitar (Jordan Klassen), fiddle (Chloe Davidson), banjo and mandolin (Chris Baxter), and upright bass (Nils Loewen) the band makes a big sound that tips its cap to tradition while incorporating singer-songwriter music intentionally put together with clever, inventive song arrangements, emotive instrumental breaks and powerful vocal harmony. Fran has worked an eclectic mix of jobs including youth worker, career counsellor, proposal writer, and a ten-year stint as VP for a career consulting firm. Her short stories have appeared in literary journals from coast to coast, and her plays have been produced for both theatre and radio. Fran has published two novels. The Shore Girl landed on the CBC Top 40-Book List and won the Alberta Reader’s Choice Award. No Good Asking, shortlisted for the 2019 Georges Bugnet and ReLit Awards, has been translated for international markets. Fran’s third novel will hit bookshelves in the spring of 2025.

Using resist techniques, experience the joy of traditional dyeing with indigo.
Join artist Darcy Edinga of Silk Concepts as she guides you through the unique dyeing process using some fun resist techniques known as Shibori which incorporates the use of folding, binding, clamping, and stitching on 100% natural cotton. You will have the opportunity to create several samplers and feel free to bring in a cotton shirt.

Bio:
My interest in fiber art and fashion design manifested at a very young age. I remember sitting on the floor beside my mother and her sewing machine, in my glory creating masterpieces with her fallen fabric scraps! I grew up on the farm with no close neighbors, which left many hours for entertaining myself. Favourite pass-times included picking wild flowers, collecting frog eggs, and finding the best rocks ever! These activities shaped and influenced my perspective and creativity today.
I have been in business painting on silk since 1985 and still love what I do!
My art is nature-inspired, whimsical, and images often depict Canadian culture and history. I interpret color and design on the most amazing natural fiber, silk! Being very luxurious, it drapes beautifully, has an organic sheen, and is incredibly comfortable to wear, cool in the summer and warm in the winter. As a color enthusiast, I love the intense, bold colors that can be painted with dyes on to the silk. 
Quality is of utmost importance! Heart and soul is put into everything that comes out of the studio, creating art and wardrobe pieces that are extraordinary statements, or simple, elegant scarves. Creating beautiful fashion accessories is my passion, my pleasure. I treasure your feedback and love to know my creations are bringing joy to someone's life.

Indigo Dyeing Workshop

Bas-relief is French and means low relief. It is also commonly referred to as frieze. This is artwork similar to what would be found on Greek and Roman temples. We will be studying this work using hard surfaces and plaster, watercolour medium and gel.
Bas-relief is used to help add dimension and extreme foreshortening in artwork. We will be taking 2 dimensional imagery and turn it into 3 dimensions using very low relief.
Look forward to learning and exploring application techniques, tricks and tips. Explore colour application and theory, composition, and value study. We will also cover finishing elements, framing and varnish.... and so much more!

Instructor Bio: 
Karen Scarlett – Western Landscape Artist
Karen grew up fifth generation on the family dairy farm west of Innisfail, Alberta. She has made art her entire life.
The “Queens of the dairy” held a royal spot on the farm and took up much of the energy of the Scarlett family existence. It was a great life.
Creating has been a lifelong adventure and an important part of life for Karen. Art was practiced with Grandma Scarlett where she learned and important lesson – try everything. A love of power tools and creative design were honed with her Dad while hand-craft, sewing and creating with a sense of perfection were inspired by her Mom.
Karen takes her biggest inspiration from her love, Doug. They live in Calgary, Alberta where Karen works from her home studio.
Recently, Karen obtained a commission for 150 pieces of art to be installed in the Royal Palm Hotel and Resort in Miami, Florida. It was thrilling to receive this international recognition.
You can find Karen’s work in private, corporate and commercial collections across North America and in various spots around the globe.

The play questions the cost of hope and the sacrifices we make for connection and freedom. All the while, an endless dance of courtship writhes as the clownish facades of the engines of government continue to devour each other…

Jacob has had enough memories to last himself a lifetime but when there's a pull back to his childhood home he must go through the memories that led him away. Hester lives in the house that seems to be swallowed in carcasses and addled mourning, barely keeping herself lucid enough for when her son comes home. The two have to venture through the house and their own memories in order to examine the rise of Jacob's brother as a prominent cult-leader which ultimately led to all this grief. Through traversing these memories, old wounds get split open and the blood from the past spills into the present. The two struggle not to drown as the bloodshed and culpability slowly rises around them while they try to justify their lives and make better ones.
Starring: Reid Nichols, Heather Giles, and Ben Weber.

In 2040, Australian filmmaker Damon Gameau takes a look at various practical solutions to myriad environmental concerns, with the hope that his daughter –who will be 21 years old in the year 2040– will face a more hopeful future. Funny, emotional, compelling, and incredibly inspiring, join us for a doc that was made to be seen with an audience, and stay for a lively panel discussion after the show!

With almost 20 years of live performance experience as a dueling piano player, a piano karaoke host, a singer/songwriter, a front-woman and even burlesque’s hostest-with-the-mostest, Tiff Hall promises to make your party LIT.
Known for her big voice and her even bigger on-stage personality, Tiff’s favorite place in the whole wide world is on stage, dressed as a werewolf, playing songs on with her BFF an accordion named Goldtooth.

This high-energy, fast-paced show pits teams of improvisers against each other in a fierce, no-holds-barred battle of wits and laughs! Fuelled by the suggestions you give us, our skilled improvisers make up the entire show on the spot, off the top of their heads. Created by Keith Johnstone in Calgary, Theatresports® is performed by companies all over the world. Rapid Fire Theatre is one of the biggest and longest running (since 1980!) producers of the show on the planet. This show features two acts. In the first act, our two Theatresports teams compete head-to-head. In the second act, the members of the winning team become rivals as they compete in a Maestro match, where only one performer will remain standing by the end!
