The screenplay is skillfully crafted by Anoop Ravindran and YV Rajesh, while the film is produced by Sajiv Soman, Suunil Jaiin, Prakshali Jain, and Sam George in collaboration with Skanda Cinemas and Kingsmen LLP. Apart from Unni Mukundan and Nikhila Vimal, the film also stars Chemban Vinod Jose, Johny Antony, Meera Vasudevan, Shyam Mohan, and Surabhi Lakshmi. The cinematography is expertly handled by Alex J Pulickal, with a musical score composed by Sam CS. Editing is overseen by acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan.

Taylors Story - A Tribute to Taylor Swift at Brockville Arts Centre


Aberdeenshire folksinger, Iona Fyfe, has become one of Scotland’s finest singers, rooted deeply in the singing traditions of the North East of Scotland. In 2021, she became the first singer to win the coveted title of Musician of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. Iona is a fierce advocate for the official recognition of the Scots Language, leading a successful campaign to pressure Spotify into recognising Scots and add it to its list of languages. Honoured at the Scots Language Awards with the title of Speaker of the Year in 2021, Iona performs both folk and pop songs in the Scots language, remaining true to her rooting in tradition. Iona has featured in several publications including The Sunday Post, The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Times. She won the title of Scots Singer of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards in 2018 and was described as “one of the best Scotland has to offer.”  (Global-Music.de)
Iona has made musical appearances on several TV broadcasts including Landward (BBC Scotland), Great Canal Journeys (Channel 4) Secret Scotland with Susan Calman (Channel 5), Binneas Na Trads (BBC ALBA), Under Canvas (BBC ALBA), Hame (BBC Northern Ireland) and Great Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo (BBC Two). Her music has received airplay and has been performed in session on radio shows such as Music Planet (BBC Radio 3), The Folk Show (BBC Radio 2) The Afternoon Show, Take The Floor and Travelling Folk (BBC Radio Scotland).
With extensive touring experience, Iona, a mere 23 years of age, has performed throughout the UK, Poland, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Czech Republic, Canada and Australia. Iona has performed with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra as part of the World Premiere of Disney Pixar’s Brave in Concert at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Released in 2019, Dark Turn of Mind is Iona’s first EP entirely in English and features six ballads and songs found in both Appalachia and Aberdeenshire and has been described as “a new interpretation to the country genre” – Maverick.
Iona studied at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and graduated with a first-class honours degree in Traditional Music and holds an FLCM from London College of Music. A finalist in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2021, Iona has achieved sell-out shows at Edinburgh Fringe Festival for three consecutive years. A familiar face on the UK folk club circuit, Iona is just as much at home in an unaccompanied singing setting, as she is with full band line-up. Performing at Interceltique Festival De Lorient in France, she was described as “a Scottish folksinger, magical and charismatic” (Rolling Stone, France)..
Iona is a regional member of the Musicians Union’s Scotland and Northern Ireland branch. She serves as a director of the Traditional Music and Song Association of Scotland. In 2020, Iona helped to found Oor Vyce, the campaign group dedicated to securing official recognition of the Scots Language and lobbied 35 out of 129 MSPs to sign a Scots Pledge, which would seek to secure protection, funding and promotion of the language that over 1.5million people speak. (2011 census). Iona is a passionate supporter of the statutory recognition of the Scots language. Iona has spoken out against sexual harassment and champions equality within the music industry. She has also discussed fair pay for music streaming and the effect of Brexit on live touring. Iona appeared on BBC News, interviewed by Victoria Derbyshire about implications that Brexit has caused for touring musicians.
Growing up within the Traditional Music and Song Association movement, Iona met many revivalist singers such as Jimmie Hutchison, Joe Aitken and Carole Prior who influenced her ballad and bothy ballad style. Attending singarounds, ceilidhs and competitions from 5 years of age, Iona learnt her repertoire mainly through oral transmission and is still a regular within the competitive ballad circuit.
Iona’s debut album Away From My Window was held to critical acclaim and received nationwide airplay on programmes such as BBC Radio 2 The Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio Scotland’s Travelling Folk, Take The Floor and BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal. An exploration of her unique style and songwriting voice, Away From My Window features archive material of singers such as Stanley Robertson and Lizzie Higgins whilst drawing on the work of more recent songmakers such as Michael Marra and Aidan Moffat (Arab Strap). “Away From My Window” was premiered at a sold out Celtic Connections performance featuring a larger musical ensemble and live on-stage sampling of source singers.

FRASER
Ernie Fraser is a professional fiddler and guitarist from Cape Breton Island. He began his musical career as a guitarist specializing in Blues, R&B and Jazz. Later, he developed a keen interest in fiddling, particularly that of Cape Breton.
Ernie was a top ten finalist for the 2021 Canadian Grand Masters’ Fiddling Competition. He was heavily involved with the Ottawa Traditional Fiddling and Folk Art Society for many years. Ernie is a sought after performer to play for local Cape Breton dances, typically hosted by the Cape Breton Club of Ottawa and Watson’s Mill in Manotick. His CD, entitled Cape Breton Tributes, is distributed by a number of organizations. Ernie’s website is https://erniefraser.ca.
Ernie is joined by Marietta Fraser, a multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, fiddle and banjo), and by Diane Fraser on bodhran and vocals. Together, they are called FRASER, and they have performed around the Ottawa and Gatineau area; most recently at Hogman-Eh! 2024 and Robbie Burns Day events hosted by the Scottish Society of Ottawa, the Almonte Celtfest (2018 and 2022), and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, as well as private events.

Alexis MacIsaac and Calum MacKenzie are a wife and husband duo who have established a unique musical partnership that combines Cape Breton piano playing with a modern approach to Celtic fiddle. While Calum’s musical approach has been heavily influenced by his Hebridean roots and his native Cape Breton culture, Alexis’ playing is a multi-faceted harmonization of Irish, Scottish, and Cape Breton styles.
Though their respective approaches to music are distinct, together they create a clean and seamless sound that is nonetheless grounded in tradition. As a fiddle player, Alexis has performed throughout North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates with acts such as Riverdance, The High Kings, and The Paperboys, while Calum has been fortunate to play with, and accompany, many local Cape Breton artists and international musicians both at home and abroad in the Caribbean and in Scotland on piano and fiddle.
Their debut album, The Bay Street Sessions, is a compilation of original and traditional compositions and arrangements, and secured them a 2017 Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for traditional instrumental group of the year and a 2018 East Coast Music Awards Nomination for Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year. The album is infused with centuries-old feeling and contemporary flair: their mutual love for music articulated in each note and phrase from bow to key.
 

Celtic Celebration Featuring Alexis MacIsaac & Calum MacKenzie and Fraser


JIIG came into being in 2004 when singer, songwriter and concertina player Ian Robb decided to record a long overdue “solo” album, and realised he didn’t have to look very far in his home town of Ottawa for some really top-notch help. The solo album quickly evolved into a group project, and the pre-existing trio of James Stephens, Ian Clark and Greg T. Brown, then known acronymously as JIG, took on a fourth member and a second “I”.
The music of JIIG centres around Ian R’s masterful singing of traditional or traditional-sounding, mostly English songs, and is balanced by some stellar instrumental sets showcasing the various stylistic influences and uncommon musicianship of James, Ian C and Greg, all leading lights of the vibrant Ottawa Celtic scene . The band finds its tunes in the Québec, Ontario, Newfoundland, Appalachian, Scottish, Irish and English repertoires, or among James and Greg’s own compositions, and produces a sound that is at once rich and rhythmic, eloquent and edgy. The band's first (and only) recording project, simply entitled "JIIG" received two Canadian Folk Music Award nominations in 2005, and Ian R. won the CFMA for "Best singer, Traditional"
 
James Stephens
Perhaps best-known as a record producer (Finest Kind, Pierre Schryer, Glen Road, Genticorum, The Brian Pickell Band and countless other artists in the folk/acoustic genre; winner of the 2003 Porcupine Award as “Producer of the Year”), James is one of Canada’s most versatile and inventive fiddle players, mastering a multitude of styles from Cape Breton to Bluegrass, Québecois to Appalachian Old Time, Irish to Ottawa Valley. James works his way through 4 and 5 string fiddles, mandolin and bass in the course of a JIIG performance. He has played with a Who’s Who of Canadian folk roots music, from Fat Man Waving to Lynn Miles to Finest Kind, and had a previous life in classical music. In recent years, James has made many trips to Smithers BC to teach and compose for the Valley Youth Fiddlers’ project, and is also one of the organisers of the Gatineau Hills Fiddle Festival, in his home community of Chelsea, QC.
 
Ian Robb
A founder member of the Estelle Klein Achievement Award-winning Friends of Fiddler’s Green, and a third of the internationally acclaimed vocal harmony trio Finest Kind, Ian, who describes himself as “a singer and writer of old songs” is one of North America’s most respected singers of English traditional song, with a singing career spanning more than 50 years. He bought his first English concertina in the 1970s, and over the decades has gradually developed his own distinctively chordal style of song self-accompaniment. Ian has been a long-time builder and advocate of the folk music scene; he co-founded the Old Sod Folk Music Society of Ottawa, served several years as a regular columnist for Come for to Sing and Sing Out! Magazines, and has been a board member of the Canadian Folk Music Society and Canadian Vice-President of Local 1000, the travelling musicians’ union. More recently Ian has toured and recorded with the English duo Jess and Richard Arrowsmith as The Arrowsmith:Robb Trio, and his last recording was a duo project with JIIG’s James Stephens. Ian’s recordings go back to 1976, and total well over a dozen solo and band projects.
 
Ian Clark
A solid grounding in swing guitar has given Ian a seemingly unlimited chord vocabulary and a great sense of groove that he exploits fully in his playing with JIIG. Though brought up in Scotland, his passion for “Celtic” playing only developed when he discovered Ottawa’s session scene, and he soon became a favourite among that city’s many great players, adding a mastery of DADGAD tuning to his already broad palate. Ian has played with Canadian fiddle great Pierre Schryer, and Ian and Pierre’s live duo CD “Heat of the Moment” is a classic showcase of uninhibited and inventive duet playing. He has also performed in the last few years with the Friends of Fiddler’s Green, has played and recorded with Finest Kind, among others. and is a member of The Ottawa rockabilly and swing band, The Dimestore Playboys.
 
Greg T. Brown
Fiddle and accordion alumnus of many bands including Matapat, Tüq and Glen Road,. Greg is originally from Newfoundland, and cut his musical teeth on the tunes of Rufus Guinchard and Emile Benoit under the guidance of current Newfoundland fiddle great Christina Smith. Since moving to the National Capital region and for a while, Montreal, he has added a variety of styles to his tune repertoire, most notably from the Irish and Québecois traditions. He has also added accordion, anglo concertina, tenor banjo and guitar to his arsenal. Greg is in demand around Ottawa’s music scene as a fine live sound engineer, and in recent years he has made countless trips north to Nunuvut, to teach fiddle and accordion and work his magic at the mixing board.

To call Laura Cortese a globetrotter would be to drastically understate her adventurous spirit. Her nature, as a musician, has always been to go where the wind takes her, settling into new ecosystems in which to adapt and grow roots until the breeze blows once more. In these travels, she has found a global network of collaborators–friends and mentors who have helped her forge bonds and grow mastery in many musical traditions, all of which she approaches with the same reverence and devotion that she felt when picking up a fiddle for the very first time as a young child.Now, more than twenty years into her already impressive career, she makes her home in Ghent, Belgium, where she continues to do what she is best at: building musical community. Despite a global pandemic and rolling lockdowns, Laura Cortese created opportunities for local creatives to come together, sharing space and inspiration with each other in every gathering. In so doing, she was inspired to create a new solo show based on original American folk songs. When Laura is alone on the stage, the audience becomes her band, stamping and clapping like a kick and snare drum, sometimes singing along sweetly and occasionally reminiscent of an enthusiastic gang vocal. She can be found performing internationally, exploring, and exalting in her passion for American roots music.

The interesting parts of our stories aren’t the famous people we meet… 
Or the times when everything is basically working. Or when we get to lay in comfort with a partner watching Netflix and the world go by. The interesting parts are when all those things break down and you’re left in isolation to finally deal with the roots of whatever had been thwarting your existence all along. The interesting parts are when the world has turned its back on you and you have turned your back on it or them. When darkness could seemingly swallow you whole if it hasn’t already. When there is no such thing as hope and so you manufacture it from a dream which only angle is to survive.  
If all this sounds dramatic then you haven’t been there yet. If it doesn’t then you know that this is actually an understatement. The interesting parts of our stories are when they seem like the final chapter has been read and the book thrown in the fire. The interesting parts of our stories are written with the smoke of our burnt out lives.  
Come Back World is an album about rebirth and survival. At least that’s what it means to me. The title track I wrote in a little town on my way to aspen on a tour celebrating the 15th anniversary of Redemption’s Son. I was alone touring in a rented car driving myself across the country as a support act and doing what I could to rebuild my career. New management, eviction notices, an injured shoulder and most importantly estrangement from my family of origin. Discovering newly that my life and my soul had been ravaged for the most part covert forms of emotional abuse know. Commonly as NPD. The discovery of which is commonly followed by extreme isolation, PTSD, and the realization that nearly everything in your life needs to be built again.  
I realize this is an intense way to start a bio about a new album but there really is no other way to paint the story of how this album came to be if I want it to be anything resembling the truth.  
Because for me this album is all about surviving that predicament which for those unfamiliar with it will perhaps sound like madness (which it is ironically designed too) and for those that know about it and those that have survived it, will know that one can do little else but focus on the rebuilding, the bringing back of your world.  
Herman Hesse said the best art comes from necessity and this art certainly qualifies. I had nothing but songs to get me out of the hole I was in.  
The songs themselves aren’t all literal interpretations of what I was going through but the strength of them comes from the fact that I needed them to be good enough to deliver some kind of life back too me. A life I had lost that wasn’t gonna get found. But perhaps a new life could be built. A better one. One that wasn’t rooted in lies.  – JA

Jordan Caiola (CAI•OLA) is a songwriter/musician/producer based out of Philadelphia. 
He founded the indie rock band Mo Lowda & The Humble in 2010 and, due to its intense touring schedule, the band became his main priority along with his side project NightSeason (founded in 2016) - an indie/electro-pop producer duo. 
Though he always felt writing folk songs was his true “wheelhouse”, it wasn’t until the nationwide lockdown in early 2020 that he finally put aside the time to record a collection of those songs for his first solo album ‘Only Real When Shared’. His second record, a more mature and textural follow up entitled, 'This Could Be Everything', was released August 2nd, 2024 and is streaming everywhere.


CAIOLA

No stranger to Canadian and International audiences, Russell deCarle is recognized as the lead singer and one of the founding members of award-winning multi-platinum country-roots group Prairie Oyster. For over a decade, he has concentrated on his solo career, and has released four recordings, the most recent being “The End of the Road”. 
 deCarle’s music isn’t easily categorized. Apparent are influences from a lifetime spent absorbing musical genres ranging from southern soul and restrained balladry--with obvious touches of jazz and blues--to old-school country and western swing.
Russell is joined by stellar sidemen, Steve Briggs on guitar and Russ Boswell on bass.

An elderly lady does everything she can to keep life at bay – from her bench. But the hectic surroundings take her by surprise. If only they could let her be old and grouchy alone! But the boy is skateboarding, the dog is sniffing and scuttling around, the birds are chirping, and a friendly, elderly gentleman wants to read his newspaper. All of this is a nuisance!

Les rues et les parcs de toutes les villes ont des bancs qui invitent les passants à s’y asseoir et à partager leurs histoires.
Une femme s’assoit sur un banc pour y trouver paix et quiétude, mais rencontre des passants qui ont d’autres plans. Avec des marionnettes superbement détaillées, la pièce loue la simplicité de la vie quotidienne.
Cette histoire touchante et drôle raconte une journée ordinaire dans la vie d’un banc. Un banc, c’est si banal, et pourtant c’est très magique! On en voit partout dans les villes, les parcs et les jardins. Ce sont de véritables invitations. Parfois, les visiteurs d’un banc ne font que se frôler, parfois leur rencontre évolue.
Une femme âgée fait tout ce qu’elle peut pour éloigner la vie, du moins de son banc. Mais son environnement mouvementé la prend par surprise. Si seulement les autres pouvaient la laisser être vieille et grognonne seule! Un garçon passe sur une planche à roulettes, un chien renifle en trottant à toute vitesse, les oiseaux gazouillent et un amical vieil homme veut lire son journal. Tout cela lui tombe sur les nerfs!

Declared “the coolest rock star in the world right now,” by UNCUT magazine, Arooj Aftab has earned her position at the vanguard of creative music for her embrace of risk and nonconformity. In 2024, she released her fourth solo album, Night Reign (Verve), to universal acclaim, earning a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Jazz Album, while the song “Raat Ki Rani” was tabbed for Best Global Music Performance.The album expands on the musical universe Aftab has created over the years. Night Reign features an all-star cast of musicians (Cautious Clay, Vijay Iyer, Elvis Costello, James Franceis, Moor Mother, Joel Ross), united beneath the steady, brilliant hand of the queen of the night. As put by the Wall Street Journal, “[Night Reign’s] beauty is self-evident, and it stands on its own” which helps explain its inclusion across so many Best of 2024 album lists.Night Reign’s predecessor, Vulture Prince, ushered Aftab into the cultural zeitgeist, including a place on President Barack Obama’s Summer 2021 playlist. Recognition for the record propelled her to a Best New Artist Grammy nomination in 2022 and a win for the song “Mohabbat.” The following year she collaborated with Vijay Iyer and Shahzad Ismaily on a “masterclass in space,” the improvisational Love in Exile (Verve 2023), also Grammy nominated and winner of a 2023 Edison Jazz award.Aftab spent her adolescent years in Lahore, Pakistan, the birthplace of her music-loving parents. With fourteen albums to his credit, Dave Gunning is a luminary in Canadian folk music. His journey, deeply inspired by legends like Stan Rogers and Gordon Lightfoot, showcases his talent for blending melodic sincerity with compelling storytelling. Gunning's music often highlights underdogs and tackles significant social and environmental issues, earning him widespread acclaim.
 
Over his career, Gunning has received ten East Coast Music Awards, two Canadian Folk Music Awards, four Music Nova Scotia Awards, and a Juno Award nomination. His ability to blend humor with poignancy makes his performances unforgettable, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere for his audience.
 
In 2022, Gunning released The Same Storm, an album written and recorded during the pandemic, continuing his tradition of celebrating everyday moments and giving voice to the overlooked.
