Set in the beautiful Glen Elgin Room of the Centre for Conservation, the event embraces nature on the verge of winter and aims to raise funds to protect our cherished wilderness.

Class Description:
Unleash your creativity and curiosity in our Introductory Taxidermy Class hosted by The Sleeping Sirens! Designed for beginners, this hands-on course offers a fascinating glimpse into the art and science of taxidermy. 
What to Expect:
Class begins promptly at 10am and ends at 4pm. 
We provide each student with either a skinned, cleaned, and tanned racoon or rabbit hide depending on the workshop you are taking. 
The first half of class is focused on preparing your form, setting the eyes, test fitting and mounting the hide, as well as grooming. 
After our first 30-minute break class shifts towards base preparation and mounting your project. 
The class runs for approximately 6 hours with two 30-minute breaks throughout the day.

This workshop has both AM and PM availability, so it is of the utmost importance that you verify the correct date and time of your specific class.

You will learn the foundational skills of bug pinning, including safe collection methods, proper handling, and the step-by-step process of pinning and mounting insects.

Kyle Sullivan is a versatile drummer recognized across Toronto's music scene. With an impressive 20 album credits, most receiving radio airplay, Kyle is an alumnus of Humber College's esteemed Jazz Music Program. Over the years, he's collaborated with Canadian music luminaries like Ron Sexsmith, Cowboy Junkies, and has shared a 20-year journey with Jerry Leger.
Teri Parker (MA, BMus) is a jazz aficionado — pianist, composer, and bandleader — deeply rooted in Toronto. She honed her skills at the University of Toronto's acclaimed Jazz program, learning from legends like David Braid and Phil Nimmons. Teri has been granted multiple awards to refine her craft internationally. Currently, she's a mainstay in Canadian jazz, gracing stages from the Toronto Jazz Festival to JAZZ.91 FM broadcasts.

Chris is integral to several prominent Toronto projects, including The Blazing Fiddles and The Toronto Jazz Collective. His musical journey spans global tours, from France to Japan, and includes a memorable stint in London's "Made in Dagenham" musical.

Boreal is the magical musical collaboration of Tannis Slimmon, Katherine Wheatley and Angie Nussey. These three hard working singer-songwriters, each with their own longstanding award-winning careers, simply love to play music together. In the winter, Boreal shines their collective light on Canada’s coldest months with their show “Songs for the Snowy Season”. As if that’s not enough, after a long absence from Hugh’s Room, Betty and The Bobs return to close off the night!  Betty And The Bobs was formed as an extracurricular vehicle for a group of Toronto musicians and friends who had worked together in different combinations.  The mandate is to do all the songs they always wanted to do but would never get around to doing in their own bands.  This includes a bunch of old tunes they grew up with including country, blues, R&B, Beatles, gospel, old jazz, as well as some wacky original songs. Hytes for the Holidays

Get a glimpse into the enigmatic imaginations of two of Canada’s premier drag artists. Denim and Pythia take you on a journey of self discovery and divine mystery, as filtered through the crystal ball (or computer screen) of an online psychic reading website. Combining performance, puppetry, and projection into an otherworldly spectacle, Oraculum pulls back the velvet curtain on gender and spirituality.
Oraculum features conceptual live performance, fantastical costumes, stage magic, puppetry, and otherworldly projections in an avant-garde freak show setting that will enthrall and delight.

One of the world’s leading concert pianists, Angela Hewitt joins the list of iconic artists to perform at Hugh’s Room this December.
Born into a musical family, Angela began her piano studies at age three, performed in public at age four, and won her first scholarship a year later.
Angela’s award-winning cycle for Hyperion Records of all the major keyboard works of Bach has been described as “one of the record glories of our age” by The Sunday Times. She has won four JUNO Awards, including one for her album of Mozart Concertos with Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra.
Performing two nights this December at Rosedale Centre and Hugh’s Room, she presents works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel. This is sure to be an incredible, intimate performance with one of the world’s greatest pianists.
Eric Friesen is a broadcaster, writer, speaker and consultant on music, culture, broadcasting and religion in both Canada and the United States.  He was a network host and executive for both CBC Radio and Minnesota Public Radio (NPR).  Eric was the founding Program Director for Winnipeg’s classical and jazz station, Classic 107.  He also continues to serve a wide variety of major cultural organizations in Canada and abroad as speaker and interviewer, including Angela Hewitt’s Trasimeno Music Festival in Italy. Eric makes his home on Amherst Island, just west of Kingston, Ontario. He was made a Member of the Order of Canada in 2019.

There aren’t many musicians that can promise you won’t leave their gravitational pull without undergoing some kind of deeply transformative emotional experience and one of those is Dr. Draw. Eugene Draw aka Dr. Draw moved to Canada with his family in 1992, and learned his craft busking on the streets of Toronto where he earned his stage moniker as a healer of the spirit. Dr. Draw is able to bring the people he encounters out of a somber mood into a sunny one. Experience this on Sunday December 29!

Don Ross was born and raised in Montreal and has lived in various parts of Canada over the course of his life. The son of a Mi’kmaw Indigenous mother and a Scottish immigrant father, he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music) degree from Toronto’s York University and started working full-time as a musician in 1988.
That year he won the US National Fingerpick Guitar Championship for the first time. He won for the second time in 1996. Since 1989, Don has released 18 CDs of original music, as well as several collaborative projects with Andy Mckee, Calum Graham, and his jazz quartet, Don Ross Louder Than Usual. Saturday December 28.

A Saskatoon native transplanted to the Niagara Region of Ontario, Suzie Vinnick is the proud owner of a gorgeous voice, impressive guitar and bass chops, and an engagingly candid performance style. Her career has seen triumph after triumph. Among her most recent successes are being awarded the 2022 Maple Blues Female Vocalist of the Year, the 2019 Saskatchewan Jazz Festival Special Recognition Award, and being nominated for a 2018 Canadian Folk Music Award for Producer of the Year with her co-producer, Mark Lalama.
Suzie achieved finalist status in the Solo/Duo Category at the 2013 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN, received the 2012 CBC Saturday Night Blues Great Canadian Blues Award and the 2012 Sirius XM Canada Blues Artist of the Year.
