Anastasia is both a heartwarming and heart-wrenching dive into one of history’s biggest unanswered questions: what happened to Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov? Set amidst the turmoil of the Russian revolution with the Bolshevik regime on the rise, Anya, an amnesiac orphan stranded in what was once the Russian capital, St. Petersburg, is on a quest to rediscover her past which she believes lies in Paris. Joined by a dashing conman, Dmitry, and an ex-aristocrat, Vlad Popov, who want to use Anya to bamboozle the only remaining Romanov, Dowager Empress Marie into believing that Anya is the lost Anastasia, she escapes to Paris with a determined Soviet officer on their heels.*
 
Anastasia is recommended for ages 13 and up. There is some mild adult content, violence, loud noises (i.e. gunshots, explosions) and flashing lights. Viewer discretion is advised.

The McMaster Thespian Company is a non-profit theatre organization specializing in developing and performing classical plays in new ways. Past shows include (but are not limited to) scripts and pieces from the classical Grecian, Elizabethan, and Victorian eras. MTC provides opportunities for students interested in performing, technical theatre, and production, and creates an inclusive forum for artists and technicians to develop and showcase their skills and talents. In the process, we cultivate theatrical performances that touch on a variety of social issues, bring theatre's origins and earliest pieces to life, and highlight the importance of live theatre at McMaster and in our surrounding community. The 2024-2025 school year marks MTC's 20th season.      
Our company is composed of actors, crew members, and production team members that come from different faculties and backgrounds. Among our members, we encourage artistic and technical development within the diverse areas of theatre and provide an environment where our company members can explore classical theatre outside of academic study.

Rooted in the history of the Pride movement, this cabaret will champion our ongoing fight against homophobia, transphobia, and harmful policies against queer people. It is a bold, unapologetic declaration of solidarity, unity, and strength, showing that in the face of adversity, the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community is stronger together. Whether channelling their anger at the prejudice we face as queer people or singing a ballad that fills them with joy and hope for a better future, our performers are here to make their voices heard. Are you ready to listen?
 
Like its ambisextrous namesake, Buddies’ in-house bar and performance space Tallulah’s Cabaret does it all. It’s throbbing club nights and community tap dance lessons. High-concept drag and low-stakes open mics. Go for pre-drinks but stay late for the post-show discourse—maybe even spark that next collaboration. With local brews and sober options that aren’t an after-thought, Tallulah’s is the come-as-you-are bar for old friends, new lovers, partiers, poets, and curious passerby. The Venuti String Quartet is made up of some of the most sought-after freelance musicians in Toronto.  Their members frequently perform with many of the major orchestral ensembles in Toronto, including The Toronto Symphony Orchestra, The Canadian Opera Company, The National Ballet of Canada and Tafelmusik.  They are a highly versatile group comfortable performing not only the great classical repertoire but also jazz, contemporary and many other musical genres. Their violinist, Drew Jurecka also composes and arranges for the quartet.They have worked with artists and ensembles including Payadora Tango Ensemble, Jill Barber, Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company, The Hogtown Syncopators, The Gryphon Trio and The Art of Time Ensemble. The Venuti String Quartet can be heard frequently as recording artists for film and various recording projects including Royal Wood's, Donovan Wood's and Justin Gray's most recent records. They are quartet in residence for Caledon Chamber Concerts. We are glad to host them on Friday February 28.

Pipo Romero, a gifted composer and acoustic guitarist from Cádiz, Spain, has become a prominent figure in Europe’s acoustic guitar scene. His fusion of folk, flamenco, Celtic, and classical melodies is unique, and his virtuosity on the guitar is nothing short of jaw-dropping.
Pipo is accustomed to playing the concert halls of Europe, and he’s performed at New York’s Lincoln Centre, Washington’s Kennedy Centre and the Taiwan World Music Festival in Taipei. On February 23rd he plays the tiny and phenomenal-sounding Small World Music Centre on Shaw Street in Toronto.
A note from promoter Luke Jackson:
I had the immense privilege of bringing Pipo to Toronto for the first time in May 2023 where he performed an incredible concert that still reverberates for all those who attended.
Pipo will perform two sets on February 23rd, starting at 7.30pm, with a 15 minute intermission at 8.30. The concert will end by 10pm. Small World Centre is a tiny 75-seat venue with an incredible state of the art sound system. It’s general admission, but there is not a bad seat in the house.
The venue is inside the Youngplace building at 180 Shaw Street. It is full accessible. Enter through the main doors, up the stairs and turn left.

The Hart House University of Toronto Drama Festival has spawned numerous performers who have gone on to become stars of stage and screen: Ted Follows, David Gardner, Don Harron, Arthur Hiller, William Hutt and Donald Sutherland – to name a few. Over 80 years since its inception in 1936, and since Trevor Rines resurrected it in 1993, the Hart House U of T Drama Festival has provided a high profile showcase for up-and-coming theatrical talent and an accessible avenue for U of T students to perform and direct on the historic Hart House Theatre stage.

The Oddities & Curiosities Expo is the world's largest traveling oddities event showcasing hand selected vendors, dealers, artists and small businesses with all things weird. You'll find items such as: taxidermy, preserved specimens, original artwork, horror/halloween inspired pieces, antiques, handcrafted oddities, quack medical devices, creepy clothing, odd jewelry, skulls/bones, funeral collectibles & much more. We truly have something weird for everyone at our shows. All items you see at our shows are legal to own and sustainably sourced. Outside of our curated vendors, we host sideshow performers on stage all throughout the day and the opportunity to learn the craft of taxidermy with classes available during the expo. The O&C Expo provides a safe place for anyone to come and discover new artists, meet new friends and be surrounded by an amazing community of like-minded people. We pride ourselves in being a completely "DIY" run show from start to finish. We find so much joy in being able to provide a place where you can feel at home surrounded by others that share the same interests. We are the first and original traveling event exclusively showcasing oddities vendors and dark artists in the country. We are a one of a kind event and the first to do what we specialize in. We take tremendous pride in this and hope to gain your support along the way.Kids 12 and under are free and DO NOT NEED A TICKET. No refunds.

Jackalope Taxidermy Class
JACKALOPE: $225USD
Class Description:
Unleash your creativity and curiosity in our Introductory Taxidermy Class hosted by The Sleeping Sirens! Designed for beginners, this hands-on course offers a fascinating glimpse into the art and science of taxidermy. 
What to Expect:
Class begins promptly at 10am and ends at 4pm. 
We provide each student with either a skinned, cleaned, and tanned racoon or rabbit hide depending on the workshop you are taking. 
The first half of class is focused on preparing your form, setting the eyes, test fitting and mounting the hide, as well as grooming. 
After our first 30-minute break class shifts towards base preparation and mounting your project. 
The class runs for approximately 6 hours with two 30-minute breaks throughout the day.

Unlock the artistry of entomology in our Introductory Bug Pinning Workshop hosted by The Sleeping Sirens! This hands-on experience is perfect for nature enthusiasts, aspiring entomologists, or anyone interested in the intricate craft of insect preservation. Join us as we guide you through the techniques of preparing and pinning insects, transforming them into beautiful, display-ready specimens.
What to Expect:
This workshop has both AM and PM availability, so it is of the utmost importance that you verify the correct date and time of your specific class. 
The AM class will begin promptly at 10am while the PM class will begin promptly at 1:30pm.
You will learn the foundational skills of bug pinning, including safe collection methods, proper handling, and the step-by-step process of pinning and mounting insects.
We will familiarize ourselves with the tools of the trade, pinning supplies, insect boxes, and preservation techniques. We’ll provide all necessary materials for your workshop experience.
Explore creative ways to arrange and display your pinned insects, turning your specimens into captivating works of art that reflect your personal style.

The Oscar Peterson School of Music at the Royal Conservatory of Music offers amateur adult musicians the opportunity to learn jazz and improvisation in small ensembles under the direction of Michael Occhipinti.  Join us as seven of Michael's ensembles take to the Hugh's Room stage to perform music from across the spectrum of jazz, including that of  Pat Metheny, Hank Mobley, Kenny Garrett, Hermeto Pascoal, Benny Golson, Geri Allen, Julia Cleveland, and more.  Come cheer on amateur music making at its best!
