Santur player, composer, and cultural inventor Amir Amiri dwells at the centre of a unique musical universe where ancient inspiration, dazzling virtuosity, and bold creativity meet. Surrounding himself with outstanding collaborators from the worlds of jazz, classical and world music, Amiri fearlessly transcends genres and borders, exquisitely transporting his ancient instrument into the musical conversations of our time. Born in Tehran, Iran, Amiri is a master of the santur, a 72-string instrument dating from approximately 500 BCE.
Since arriving in Canada in 1996, Amiri has created numerous groundbreaking ensembles including the Amir Amiri Ensemble, inspired by the fluidity of musical influences in Iran. The Amir Amiri ensemble is an ensemble of virtuoso musicians from the Persian tradition: Amir Amiri (santur),  Abdul-Wahab Khayyali (oud), Reza Abaee (ghaychak),  Omar Abu Afech (Viola), and Hamin Honari (percussion). Inspired by the diversity and fluidity of the many musical influences of Iran, the Amir Amiri Ensemble creates an engaging and distinctive sound fusing the refinement of traditional and spiritual Persian music with folkloric and modern elements. In seeking to expand the boundaries of these musical traditions, balancing heritage and innovation, they find that the possibilities are limitless. About the event 
The annual Spark to Flame concert, presented by the Ann & George Nation Conservatory School of Classical Music, is a cherished event that nurtures the talents of young, emerging artists as they take their first steps toward professional musicianship. In this milestone year, as the Victoria Conservatory of Music celebrates its 60th anniversary and 25 years of performances in the Alix Goolden Performance Hall, the event promises to be more memorable than ever. 
Open to all Conservatory students, soloists are selected through a rigorous audition process and then guided by Conservatory faculty in the weeks leading up to the concert, including special rehearsals with an orchestra. 
This year’s performance, held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, will spotlight seven exceptional student soloists, accompanied by an ensemble of peers, faculty, and professional musicians for an evening of inspiring music.

We like to rap and have fun. Our first memories of rapping at Lucky Bar are old enough to vote and have kids of their own by now. These magic sweatpants of ours have journeyed across the vast plains of eternity and have recently returned home to ride anew. Come celebrate the rebirth of comfort, the return of the empire of elastic waistbands, and the voice of leisure wear enthusiasts the world over. We are still pretty sure that this whole internet thing is just a fad, so we didn’t sign up for any of these newfangled social medias until today.
 
Bobby Arson
I'm a rapper/DJ from the western edge of Canada. 1 of the 4 founders of the Outright Cypher, a weekly freestyle jumpoff that ran for 13 years in the heart of Victoria B.C. I have a habit of leaving everything on the stage. I have been lucky enough to spit with some of the best hip-hop artists in the world. I can still rap the periodic table of elements, and I'm just here to make music and have fun. I wrote my own Bio. I know these are usually not in the first person point of view, but feel like pretending someone else did it is hacky AF. I'm still trying to get my vocabulary up to an Aesop Rock level, but I know I never will. I'm also still trying to not sound like slug in 03, but again, I know I never will.

BRAINiac, a product of Vernon, BC, and a '90s baby deeply influenced by Hip-Hop's golden era, found his musical calling at W.L. Seaton. Immersed in jazzstudies and inspired by classic acts like Nas and Mobb Deep, he evolved hissound with modern influences like Earl Sweatshirt, Joey Bada$$, Mac Millerand Action Bronson. BRAINiac's fusion of old-school authenticity withcontemporary innovation defines his quest to curate a fresh sound in Hip-Hop, reflecting his diverse musical ourney.
LiquidjaneAfter spending her 20’s cultivating her style in Victoria’s jam and cypher communities, and performing as a vocalist/ emcee in live bands The Spliff Personalities and The Miles Skye Club, Skye Allen created liquidjane in 2020 to further explore her love of electronic and sample-based music, particularly 90s- early 2000s R&B and hip hop. As a passionate music lover and collector, her influences span a wide array of genres, lending to a dynamic and unique sound. In summer of 2024, liquidjane released her debut project Light Matter- a collaborative effort with producer/ beatmaker Miles Lewis, featuring bandmates and other local musicians.

Drinks: Beer, Cider, Seltzers & Hard Teas = 12oz, Wine = 3oz, Spirits = 0.5oz; there are no tokens or extra purchasing required, it is all included.
The Venue: Starlight Stadium offers a spacious outdoor setting to wander and graze while enjoying the festival. 
Live Music from local artists and resident DJ's perform throughout the day.

Main Event Tickets include: inclusive access to the meat-centric food offerings from 45+ award-winning restaurants and chefs, all-inclusive drink offerings from 10+ beverage providers including craft beer, cocktails, cider, hard seltzers, wine and non-alcoholic beverages, and live entertainment throughout the day. 
Brewery & the Beast celebrates the outdoor roots of the festival by giving chefs free reign to be creative while preparing their dishes over open fire. Beef, bison, pork, lamb, goat, elk, pork, chicken rabbit, duck and wild boar are featured in dishes throughout the event, and are prepared using traditional and innovative techniques. 
All tickets are fully inclusive of all food and beverage offerings at the event.

Come enjoy an evening of true stories told live on stage by the people who lived them – without notes, props or gimmicks! Co-hosts Cassandra Togneri and Carol-Lynne Michaels will introduce you to six people with stories inspired by the theme “Encores.”
Expect a few travel stories (some inspiring, some cringe-tastic), an unexpected love story, a new Canadian trying to understand the culture, and more. Come experience it all on Jan 16 at a new location: KWENCH!

Culinaire welcomes guests to experience a selection of the most unique restaurants and purveyors of fine food and beverage our region offers. Chefs serve inspired creations and signature dishes for you to savour, while beverage offerings range from a diverse collection of wines, cocktails, craft beer, cider, non-alcoholic drinks, and locally roasted coffee.
VIP Ticket Holders are treated to an exclusive 45 minute VIP experience prior to the start of the Main Event.
Culinary offerings during the VIP event will be created by guest chefs from award-winning restaurants and resorts.
Libations will include an impressive line up of cocktails crafted by feature bartenders, select premium wines, craft beer and non-alcoholic beverages.
VIP Ticket holders will enjoy 15 minutes of early access to the Main Event to indulge in more than 60 of Vancouver Island’s most unique restaurants and purveyors of fine food and beverage.
20 tasting tickets are included with your VIP ticket purchase to sample the food and beverage offerings. 1 ticket = 1 tasting.
