Two-time GRAMMY® award winners, Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, are master musicians with a career spanning over 35 years. Their superb harmonies are backed by instrumental virtuosity on the guitar, five-string banjo, ukulele, mandolin, cello-banjo, and more. Their repertoire ranges from classic country to western swing, gypsy jazz to bluegrass, and old-time string band to contemporary folk (including some original gems).
Cathy and Marcy have performed at hundreds of bluegrass and folk festivals and taught at close to 100 music camps worldwide. Happily known as "social music conductors" ready to start a jam session, a community sing, or create a music camp helping others learn to play and sing, the duo's past students include Kaki King and Rhiannon Giddens.
Cathy and Marcy earned GRAMMY Awards for their recordings cELLAbration: a Tribute to Ella Jenkins and Bon Appetit!: Musical Food Fun. Their CDs Postcards and Banjo Talkin' were GRAMMY finalists in the Best Traditional Folk Album category.

Program subject to changeKarl Stobbe   MCO Concertmaster Karl Stobbe is one of Canada’s most accomplished and diverse violinists. A crack band leader and chamber musician, Stobbe is also “a master soloist, recalling the golden age of violin playing,” (London’s Sunday Times). The JUNO nominee has performed in North America’s most famous concert halls, including New York’s Carnegie Hall and Boston’s Jordan Hall. A crowd favourite in Winnipeg and far beyond, Stobbe will dazzle audiences on his rare, exceptional 1806 Lupot violin when this master musician takes the spotlight as soloist, arranger, and leader.    Andrew Armstrong   Name a world-class concert hall or piano award, and it almost certainly shows up on Andrew Armstrong’s awe-inspiring CV. Even before beginning his career as a concert pianist, Armstrong had snatched over 25 national and international First Prizes. He’s worked with Itzhak Perlman, played Carnegie and Wigmore, and once inspired the iconic Van Cliburn to cheer from the audience, “Fabulous! Fabulous!” The American-based pianist could tour to almost anywhere in the world, and frequently stops in Winnipeg. Last time he played with the MCO, it was to accompany his long-time collaborator violinist James Ehnes; this time his recital partner is another local great, Karl Stobbe. During the curtain call, you’ll surely hear echoes of Cliburn’s ecstatic praise.

Awadagin Pratt  Before he was 25, Awadagin Pratt became the first African American pianist to win the Naumburg International Piano Competition, one of the world’s oldest music competitions. Since then, he’s performed with nearly every major orchestra in the US, at the White House, and, that great winner of young hearts and minds, Sesame Street. Awadagin famously earned degrees from the Peabody Conservatory in conducting, violin, and piano. He’s a brilliant beacon in today’s music world, one of the “great American pianists” (WGBH), and we’re thrilled to work with him again.

A CLEAN NEW SEATING PLAN 
The MCO is now offering two seating sections at Crescent Arts Centre (see seat map below). We're happy to offer Section A seating for people who love to get close to the action. Meanwhile, our no-bad-seats Section B offers one of the most affordable performing arts experiences in the province. Rush seating applies within both sections as usual, so don't worry about picking a specific seat in advance. All concerts at Crescent Arts Centre, unless otherwise noted. Tickets are general admission for shows at Desautels Concert Hall and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Josh Bonneteau is an up-and-coming drummer and recent graduate of the University of Manitoba's jazz program. Known for his dynamic performances, he has made a strong impression in the Winnipeg music scene, performing at iconic venues and festivals such as the Burton Cummings Theatre, the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival, Harvest Moon Festival, and Jazz at the Fort Garry Hotel. Throughout his career, Bonneteau has had the opportunity to collaborate with esteemed musicians like Will Bonness, Jon Gordon, Ron Paley, and Pasquale Grasso, showcasing his talent alongside some of the jazz world's most respected artists.

The Very Groovy Things specialize in the music of the '60s, featuring the Mamas and the Papas, the Laurel Canyon scene, and a bit of British Invasion.
